Patchouli is a plant traditionally grown in Indonesia, China and India.
Until a few years ago Madagascar did not host Patchouli plantations due to the calexcessive do present on the mother island, but thanks to the brilliant intuition of mr. Camarat, director of the Ylang Ylang plantation of Robertet, this plant has managed to take root. Camarat recovered some seedlings from an abandoned plantation, propagated them by hand and replanted them on the island of Nosy Be, protecting them from the strong sunrays through the shade of other plants.
The skilful work of Camarat has made possible the birth of a new quality of Patchouli essential oil: the herbaceous, mold and camphor notes are less present while dry woody notes and bitter cocoa aromas are further emphasized.
The work of treating the plants is long and laborious and the selection of the leaves is rigorously done by hand: the best ones are those that are starting to turn yellow and are left for at least a week in a dry and shady environment. During this period the leaves, losing humidity, will keep the precious essential oil in greater concentration.
Robertet granted the world premiere of this magnificent raw material to Perris, who honored her andemphasizing its unique characteristics in association with a rare quality of spicy note, the Schinus Molle. The rest of the accord accompanies dry woody notes with Cedar and Sandalwood and bitter cocoa notes with Labdanum and Vanilla.
The result is a warm and enveloping perfume, whose spicy top notes leave room for the complexity of Patchouli.
Its great hold also lends itself as a creative base layering: sprayed as a base for the other perfumes in the collection Perris Monte Carlo it is capable of warming the Rose, of giving an exotic touch to the Ylang Ylang and of making the Oud Imperial unique.
Our recommendations: For those who love patchouli, but also for those who don't appreciate its too woody notes. It is a full scent that leaves a trail and puts those who smell it in a good mood. Its soft and pleasantly sweet notes make it suitable for those who want to make their passage felt.
Occasion: A gala dinner in a breathtaking castle.
