Commercial perfumes vs. artistic perfumes: what changes?

“Commercial” perfumes, i.e. those whose commercials we see every day on television and which we can find effortlessly in shopping malls and in all the normal perfumeries in Italy (and the world), have always dominated the market, because brands that produce them invest millions of euros in their sponsorship. In these cases, the brand represents the bulk of the added value of a single perfume and the reason for a good portion of the price at which it is sold, to the detriment of the quality of the ingredients and an excellent relationship between alcohol and essences.

I artistic perfumes (or "niche"), however, follow a different logic. Fragrances and packaging always come first, the quality of the raw materials used does not allow for compromises and the percentage of essences is often very high, with a gigantic difference in the costs of extraction and production of the ingredients compared to commercial perfumes. To give a universal and easily understandable example, it is a question of comparing an honest supermarket steak to a Florentine di Chianina IGP, with all that follows in terms of organoleptic quality of the meat, delicacy, flavour, availability of the same and, obviously , price.

This is why niche perfumes are defined as such: because they are purchased by a much more limited and demanding target of consumers than the "mass", which demands from perfumes what other people demand from a high-end car, from a fine meat or a tailored suit. When someone decides to take the plunge and demand from a perfume the same quality that he wants to find in other areas of his life, he will hardly go back. It's very true: a niche perfume costs more and is often sold in smaller bottles than those used by mainstream perfume manufacturers, but the concentration and persistence of an artistic perfume are almost always higher (and quite a bit! ) to those of traditional fragrances and, for this reason, consumption is decidedly slower and less.
